Namaste yogis and  Happy New Year!!!!

We missed you, hope you have had a peaceful holiday ‘season’ and that your sankalpa*  remains in focus.

Newsletter: January 2016  :


Term time/Classes :  The classes resume this Friday, 15th January and run through to 18th March comprising of 10 sessions, finishing the week before Easter for the Easter break. The classes will be usual time, 6.30 and will last  between 60-75 minutes. Please allow 90 minutes so that you are not rushing and can retain the full benefits of  mindful practice. Following reflection from the last block of classes, we wondered whether it would be more beneficial to have the first 5 sessions open to new members. This would mean that new members would not be able to join in the last 5 sessions. This would enable us to develop further and to start introducing more complex asanas/ pranayama  and meditation. Feedback: I recently attended a class by a teacher who put me off because he laughed at me. I had forgotten what a lovely, kind teacher he was because all I’d remembered was that he’d laughed at me. When I met him again, he was warm and welcoming and greeted me like an old friend (in that moment I realised that I had misread him).

Now that I am a teacher, I sadly know that it is impossible- no matter how much well-intentioned one is, not to upset a student. Please if I do something to offend you and or distress or put you off, let me know. Please know that I take the principle of karuna (compassionate action) very seriously but as a human being I am fallible. I will try very hard not to upset you but if I do, please let me know so that: 1- I can make amends,  and 2- I can learn and improve from my  from my mistakes.

To this end, if you use the survey, you can let me know your likes and dislikes and that way I can aim to provide (as much as is possible) addresses your needs.

Yoga4nurture Charity update:  We have been providing free yoga classes since June 2014 and locally since January 2015. Having made the decision to provide free at the point of use classes to enable people who would not be able to afford classes to attend, I have been meeting the costs hoping to apply for funding once we gained our charitable status.  We started applying for the charitable status in January 2015 and it has been like a comedy of errors. Working full time and teaching two classes a week has limited the amount of time/energy available to pursue income for the charity. If any of you regulars have time, energy and capacity, we would appreciate your input.

We have moved to Gnome House-E17- 2 minutes walk from Blackhorse Road station. The classes will resume on Friday 28th June following the Gnome House Arts Festival.
